O-1A: Sciences, education, business, athletics
For individuals with extraordinary ability in fields other than arts. Evidence typically includes awards, publications, critical roles, high salary, or other recognized criteria.
O-1B: Arts, film, TV
For individuals with extraordinary achievement in motion picture or TV, or distinction in the arts. The standard differs slightly from O-1A.

An O-1 must be petitioned by a U.S. employer, agent, or foreign employer through a U.S. agent.
