Nova Scotia uses employer-driven and other targeted nomination pathways that can open, close, or change according to provincial priorities.
Who this route suits
Candidates who meet an active stream for Nova Scotia.
Enhanced and base streams
Nova Scotia offers both Enhanced streams (linked to Express Entry) and base provincial streams. Enhanced nominations add 600 CRS points to a federal Express Entry profile. Base streams follow a separate application process that leads directly to a federal permanent residence application.
How to apply
Most provincial streams require an Expression of Interest or online application to the provincial program. Some streams are employer-driven, others draw from a pool of registered candidates, and some are invitation-only. Check the current stream status on the official provincial website before applying.
After nomination
Once nominated, you apply to IRCC for permanent residence. The federal government reviews the application and makes the final decision. A provincial nomination does not guarantee federal approval.
