CPT and OPT
Curricular Practical Training (CPT) allows F-1 students to gain work experience as part of their curriculum. Optional Practical Training (OPT) allows work in a field related to the degree for up to 12 months. STEM graduates may apply for a 24-month STEM OPT extension.
STEM OPT Extension
F-1 graduates in STEM fields from qualifying programs can apply for a 24-month extension of OPT. The employer must be enrolled in E-Verify.
