Express Entry
Canada's flagship online system for selecting skilled workers for permanent residence across the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Who this pathway suits
Express Entry is the primary gateway to Canadian permanent residence for skilled professionals worldwide. It manages three key federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).Candidates are ranked against one another using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which awards points for core human capital (age, education, language skills, Canadian and foreign work experience), skill transferability, and additional factors such as a provincial nomination (+600 points) or qualifying Canadian job offer.Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducts regular invitation rounds, including general draws, category-based selection draws (targeting Healthcare, STEM, Trades, Transport, Agriculture, and French proficiency), and Provincial Nominee Program draws.

Frequently asked questions
What is a competitive CRS score in 2026?
Competitive scores vary widely by draw type. General draws typically require 490-530+, while category-based draws (such as French speakers, Trades, and Healthcare) frequently invite candidates at 420-470. Securing a Provincial Nomination automatically adds 600 points, guaranteeing an invitation.
Do I need a Canadian job offer for Express Entry?
No. A job offer is not mandatory for Express Entry. Thousands of candidates receive ITAs purely on human capital factors (education, language, and foreign experience). However, a valid LMIA-approved job offer can add 50 or 200 additional CRS points.
