The Scale-up route starts with qualifying sponsored employment and can provide more flexibility later than the standard Skilled Worker route.

Initial sponsorship period
For the first six months, the visa holder must work for the sponsoring scale-up employer. A high salary threshold applies.
After six months
After completing the initial sponsored period, Scale-Up visa holders are no longer tied to their sponsor and can work for other employers or be self-employed.
What qualifies as a scale-up business
Scale-up employers must be approved by the Home Office and demonstrate annualized growth of at least 20% per year for three years in employees or turnover.
